【明報專訊】An urban jungle, Hong Kong is full of skyscrapers and modern buildings. The infrastructure is also said to be second to none. In the construction industry, the adoption of new technologies can greatly enhance the efficiency of building construction and the safety of workers.

Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) (組裝合成) building

Lately, the government and several construction institutions have been looking into the possibility of widely adopting MiC in Hong Kong. MiC, a construction method in which prefabricated modules are manufactured in a factory and then transported to the building site for installation, has been adopted in many countries like Singapore and the United States.

The modules are similar to puzzle pieces. On-site workers just need to place and fix the puzzle pieces in the correct place. The washroom, bedroom, kitchen and living room have all been prefabricated in factories and transported to the building site. On-site workers only need to lay the foundation and install the rooms according to the building plan.
