【明報專訊】◆Green with envy

We use this phrase when someone has gotten something that you want.

e.g. Eason was green with envy when he saw Dr Panda's brand-new weapon.

◆The grass is always greener on the other side

We are not satisfied with the present situation and always assume that other people are having better circumstances, although they may not.

e.g. Pat thought the grass was always greener on the other side, and quitted her previous job for the new one, but soon she realized she was wrong.

◆Give the green light to

We use this phrase when we give permission for someone to do something.

e.g. The Court gave the green light to the appeal.
