MoMo: Look! The crops are produced according to organic standards. We can purchase them later at the market at a discount!
Bill: Organic food is more or less the same as ordinary food we eat, but it costs an arm and a leg. Don't get fooled by its name!
MoMo: You certainly have some misunderstandings of organic food. In the organic farming process, farmers avoid using chemical pesticides and fertiliserson on crops and antibiotics on animals. Genetic modification (基因改造) is not conducted.
Bill: Well, that sounds attractive! I really wish to consume food that is not contaminated by noxious chemicals.
Eason: Hello! Pause and take a look at my products! This pack of organic potatoes will only cost you US$200. What a good deal!
Bill: Wow! This is way too expensive!
MoMo: Hey Eason, the label is not issued by any certification body or authoritiy. This is definitely a fraud.
Eason: Too bad! I was one step away from being a billionaire!
◆Tips
There are some downsides or concerns about organic food. Avoiding the usage of chemical pesticides implies a risk of contamination by fungus and other micro-organisms. Make sure you wash them thoroughly and choose your food wisely.
