【明報專訊】What do they do?

Journalists include anyone who takes part in the processes of gathering, reporting, editing and disseminating news. Under the decisions of the editor-in-chief, reporters are responsible for reporting important current events and raising public concern over issues by doing research and writing news articles, which are submitted to editors for proofreading and fact-checking.

What are the qualities of journalists?

Journalists ought to strictly adhere to journalistic ethics and standards. Since the transmission of accurate information is essential to a well-functioning society, journalists shall strive to ensure that the information they disseminate is fair and accurate. Besides, journalists are generally equipped with strong research skills and writing techniques, since they need to present the facts to the readers succinctly.
