◆Know more

Air pollution originates from natural hazard events such as volcanic eruptions, dust storms and forest fires. However, while nature plays a role, human actions are the primary culprits in worsening air quality. Gases emitted from various sources such as factories, power plants, vehicles and cigarettes significantly exacerbate this crisis. The burning of fossil fuels at power plants, including coal, oil and natural gas, is a major contributor to harmful pollutants in the air.

Air pollution brings negative impacts to our health. Short-term

discomforts includes headaches and eye irritation, while chronic threats includes heart disease, lung cancer and respiratory diseases. In order to secure a cleaner, healthier future, we should save energy and adopt cleaner energy resources.

■English highway﹕play a role
