Marie Kondo (近藤麻理惠) is a Japanese organising consultant, author and TV show host, best known for her KonMari Method, which encourages people to keep only items that spark joy.
Her 2010 book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up became a bestseller in Japan, making her a local star. Her ideas struck a chord with readers and she soon appeared on TV shows, offering tidying advice. The English edition, released in 2014, launched her international fame. Her books have now sold over 11 million copies worldwide and have been translated into dozens of languages. She later launched her own brand and website offering organising tools and tips. Her popularity soared with her Netflix show, where she helped people declutter their homes.
Kondo's passion for tidying began in childhood. Her respectful, mindful approach has inspired a global movement of simplicity and gratitude.
