【明報專訊】Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (希拉里) has formally declared she will run for the 2016 Democratic (民主黨的) presidential nomination. She did so in 2008 but lost to Barack Obama (奧巴馬).
"I'm running for president," 67-year-old Hillary Clinton said near the end of a two-minute video showing her interacting with ordinary people. "Everyday Americans need a champion. And I want to be that champion," she said. "So I'm hitting the road to earn your vote — because it's your time. And I hope you'll join me on this journey."
Hillary Clinton fights to be the first female US president and return to the White House (白宮). She was the First Lady of the US when her husband Bill Clinton (克林頓) served two terms at the White House in the 1990s.
US President Obama spoke well of Hillary Clinton. He said she was a formidable candidate against him when they competed for the Democratic nomination in 2008. "I think she would be an excellent president," said Obama. (source: Ming Pao, The Guardian)
