Spotlight:Get well soon, Bill!
【明報專訊】Hong Kong entered the influenza season towards the end of last February. The government urges citizens to stay vigilant against influenza.
Seasonal influenza (季節性流感) is a common respiratory tract (呼吸道) infection caused by influenza viruses. In Hong Kong, seasonal influenza is more common in two periods: that between January and March and that between July and August.
As children, old people and chronic disease patients have relatively weak immune systems, the government suggests that they get vaccinated as soon as possible. It takes about two weeks for antibodies to develop in the body. (sources: Ming Pao, Centre for Health Protection)
