【明報專訊】Depicting the fall of a promising(有前途的) doctor, the classic Jekyll & Hyde is given a new lease of life by HKU drama educator Vicki Ooi. In the original story, we see the amiable(和藹可親的) Jekyll indulge himself in a serum (血清) which can turn himself into Hyde, a vicious(邪惡的), merciless criminal. With a troubled conscience (良心) and facing endless horror, he commits suicide.

The production revives the masterpiece and reveals(揭露) the childhood memories of Jekyll having to do with his personality(人格), which is not mentioned in the original story. "The desire for power often leads to a loss of conscience." The re-imagined drama mirrors the eternal conflict between power and conscience and that between one's good and evil selves.
