Can you see the dancers coming out of the huge dress both in the book and in the exhibits? All the exhibits are displayed in the Open Piazza on the ground floor of Hopewell Centre, Wan Chai.

【明報專訊】This year in Hong Kong you can taste the festive Christmas atmosphere in New York. There are Christmas exhibits which come from the pop-up book Christmas in New York by the American author Chuck Fischer (right).

Three scenes are chosen from the book to be produced into exhibits: Radio City Christmas Spectacular, which is a famous musical, The Nutcracker (《胡桃夾子》) by New York City Ballet, and also the New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square.

Fischer thinks deciding the features to be included in the pop-up book is most challenging. It is difficult to translate the visuals in his head into a book. He's very satisfied with the final products displaying in Hong Kong. "It's one-step farther to make it into real 3D!"

Fischer has been teaching children pop-up art, and he is often amazed by children's creativity. He suggests that children should refer to the resources on the Internet for making pop-up, and start by making simple pop-up cards.
