【明報專訊】◆Hold a candle

It means "as good as something".

e.g. MoMo's smartphone doesn't hold a candle to Pat's.

◆Burn the candle at both ends

It means you need to work for a long time than expected.

e.g. Tomorrow is the deadline. It isn't possible to finish the paper unless I burn the candle at both ends.

◆Not worth the candle

It is used when something is not worth the effort.

e.g. Your dream is not worth the candle — it is unrealistic and unlikely to come true.
