【明報專訊】Even though I have only stayed here for about a month, I have already noticed lots of cultural differences between Norway and Hong Kong.
Fast-paced lifestyle
First of all, life in Hong Kong is much more hectic. School or work hours are longer. School often ends at 6 pm or 7 pm here, while it ends at around 4 pm in Norway. In the evening Hong Kong students usually study and do schoolwork. However, in Norway, students usually play sports or spend time with their friends after school. Hong Kong people usually travel around by public transport. In Norway, people usually walk or drive. Hong Kong is very crowded compared with Norway, which has a very low population density.
Various choices of food
Another big difference has to do with is meals. Almost every Hong Kong meal contains rice, which it took me a while to get used to. Food here is more varied. In Norway, people eat dark bread for breakfast and lunch. In the evening, people usually have one dinner dish containing potatoes, fish and vegetables. In Hong Kong I usually have a hot lunch and have several different dishes for dinner.
Hong Kong's culture is very different from Norway's. I love experiencing the culture here!
