English highway - words and collocations

Queue

There are different ways to use the word "queue".

As a noun:

e.g. We stood in a queue for two hours.

The queue for the toilet is over there.

As a verb:

e.g. People queued for free meals.

Parents are queuing up to send their children to that famous school.

In an idiom:

jump the queue = move in front of people who have been waiting longer than you
