【明報專訊】Table tennis is also known as ping-pong. The term "ping-pong" was trademarked in the early 1900s by John Jaques & Son, an English sports equipment manufacturer. After the sport had become popular, it was given an alternative name lest there should be legal disputes. "Table tennis" was made the official name, but "ping-pong" is still widely used.
