【明報專訊】A ban on plastic bags has come into force in Kenya (肯尼亞). A person found selling, manufacturing or carrying them may be fined up to what is equivalent to HK$300,000 or jailed up to 4 years. That is the toughest law in the world aimed at reducing plastic pollution.

Kenyans are estimated to use 24 million bags a month. That is the third attempt that has been made in ten years to ban plastic bags in Kenya. The government believes the ban will help protect the environment, but bag manufacturers of argue that it will cost 80,000 jobs.
