放眼世界﹕Special Places in Hong Kong

【明報專訊】When it comes to Hong Kong, its demanding school system is a hot topic. Having lived here for three months, I find it way more theoretical than the German one. But with the help of my classmates and teachers and much hard work, I can manage it.

Hong Kong is a beautiful city, and it is wonderful to travel around in it. Some places are special to me.

Big Buddha

It's a great statue of a sitting Buddha. Its meditating pose is very calming, and its size is just impressive.

Mong Kok

It is the most crowded area on earth. The massive amount of shops there and, especially, the cheap, good local street foods there attract lots of people. And performances by all kind of buskers there on Saturday evenings are worth a visit.

Hong Kong Sky 100

The ICC is the highest observation platform in Hong Kong. It offers a spectacular view of the "metropolitan jungle".

Tsim Sha Tsui

This place gives you an incredible view of Victoria Harbour and the skyline. It boasts the Avenue of Stars and The Peninsula Hong Kong. You can take the cheap and convenient Star Ferry to Wan Chai or Central.

Wan Chai and Causeway Bay

When you walk from the Wan Chai Ferry Pier to the Wan Chai MTR station you cross the busy Gloucester Road. One may enjoy the view of it between two rows of skyscrapers, take a 'Ding Ding' ride to Causeway Bay to visit Times Square, where there are many luxury shops, or to relax in Hong Kong's biggest public library.
