【明報專訊】Lower Shing Mun Reservoir has become a popular hiking spot due to the mud cracks at its bottom. Hikers risk their lives to head down to the bottom of the reservoir and take photos. Some of them even rappel down the slopes using climbing ropes.

Several hiking accidents, one of which was fatal, related to this happened in April. A 54-year-old man lost his life after falling down a 30-metre-tall slope. Severe injury cases were also recorded earlier.

“ MoMo: It is very dangerous to rappel down through the ropes without adequate training and protective gear. ”

“ Bill: If you wish to observe the mud cracks, you should stay at a safe distance away from the slopes. ”
