It means you are very eager to spend the sum of money

e.g. The salary this month is burning a hole in my pocket!

◆burn one's fingers

You burn your fingers when you suffer from the results of your own action

e.g. I expected to win from the gambling, but turned out I burnt my fingers.

◆burn your boats/bridges

You burn your boats or bridges when you have lost any chance to go back to the original position

e.g. That policeman had burnt his boat when he was caught shoplifting.
