■Writing tips

A diary entry should be in simple language. Short sentences are preferred to long ones.

You should mainly use the past tense since your entry is about what you experienced on the day in question.

You should explore as far as possible the feelings you had that particular day. Don't forget to explain what caused those feelings.

It makes your diary enjoyable and interesting to use humour and ask rhetorical questions.

■English highway﹕-words and collocations

chaos

Chaos means a situation in which everything is confused and in a mess.

e.g. The sudden flood caused total chaos in the village.
