【明報專訊】Are you curious about cacti?

Where can we find them?

Why do they have spines?

How can they survive without water? Before finding the answers,

let's make our own pots of paper cactus!

◆Materials and tools

˙ Coloured paper / cardstock

˙ Glue / double tape

˙ Scissors

˙ A pencil / marker pen

(1) Draw a cactus stem. Stack 3-10 sheets of paper together. Cut the stem out carefully to make sure all shapes are identical.

(2) Fold each stem in half lengthways.

(3) Stick one of the outside folded sides to another stem.

(4) Repeat step 3 for the remaining stem(s) to make all stems stick together.

(5) Make flowers from coloured paper. Stick to stems.

(6) Draw a circle within a bigger circle. Cut along the outer circle.

(7) Cut from the edge of the circle to the inner circle. Fold upwards along the inner circle.

(8) Cut a rectangle. Stick the rectangle along the folded edge.

(9) Put cactus in pot.

◆Quick tips

˙You can make flowers and soil from coloured tissue paper or pompoms (絨球).

˙You can draw spines on the stems.

˙You may curl the petals of the flowers.
