◆Know more

The human body has five main sense organs (感覺器官). Each of them has its own distinctive function. Our eyes help us see; our nose helps us smell; our ears help us hear; our tongue helps us taste; and our skin helps us feel things like touches, temperatures, pain, or textures. These five basic senses are called sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch.

Within each sense organ, there are tiny sense cells called receptors (感受器). In the case of taste, these receptors are found in taste buds (味蕾). Once our bodies receive sensory information through these sense organs, the receptors send that information to the brain through nerves (神經). The brain then processes this information and directs the body on how to react to it.

It is crucial to keep our sense organs healthy because they play a vital role in helping us take in the world around us, enabling us to react effectively to changes in our environment.

■English highway﹕Take in

''Take in'' is a phrasal verb which means to pay attention to and understand something, usually using our five senses.

E.g. She took in the breathtaking view.
