【明報專訊】What do they do?
A hairdresser has plenty of work to do. They cut, wash, colour and style our hair. Interestingly, they also need to be familiar with how to take care of wigs and hairpieces. Upon request, hairdressers shave and style beards too. They analyze our facial features and determine the treatment that suits us.
What are the qualities of hairdressers?
In Hong Kong, there is no statutory requirement for the qualifications of hairdressers. In other words, you do not need to obtain a certificate or license in order to work as a hairdresser in a salon. Yet, hairdressers must possess the ability to use equipment and relevant hair products. Hairdressers sometimes put chemicals on our hair, so they should acquire excellent knowledge of the properties of the chemical substances too.
