【明報專訊】May 17 was International Day Against Homophobia. The same day in 1990, the World Health Organisation (世界衛生組織) removed homosexuality from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Homosexuality is no longer considered a mental disorder. Groups in Hong Kong have been calling for legislation against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation (性傾向). They believe people with different sexual orientations like lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual people (collectively known as LGBTs) should enjoy equal opportunities and equal rights. Different parties have expressed different views on such anti-discrimination legislation.
